- Born in 1965 in Rosenheim, Federal Republic of Germany.
- 1986 - 1993: Studies in Forest Science at the Forest Faculty of the Ludwig - Maximilians - University of Munich in Munich and Freising.
- 12/1991: Diploma thesis, title: Untersuchungen zur in vitro - Toxigenität aus Eiche isolierter Arten der Gattungen Ceratocystis/Ophiostoma und Fusarium (Investigations on in vitro toxigenicity of Ceratocystis/Ophiostoma spp. and Fusarium spp. isolated from oak), pp. 118.
- 1993 - 1996: PhD student at the Institute of Forest Botany / Section Phytopathology of the Ludwig - Maximilians - University of Munich (LMU) in Freising.
